Frequently Asked Questions

what is AÇAÍ?

Found on açaí palm trees in South American rainforests, açaí berries are a lot like grapes. The seed takes up about 80% of the berry, but the flesh and skin pack plenty of vitamins and other nutrients in the remaining 20%. Not to mention the berries are only about 70 calories a cup.

  1. Antioxidants: Like other berries, açaí are packed with antioxidants that can help build up your immune system and protect your cells against damage from free radicals.

  2. Fiber: Full of fiber, açaí berries not only help make your trips to the bathroom more regular, but also help keep you full and your blood sugar steady.

  3. Heart-Healthy Fats: It might seem like a diet rich in fish, nuts, and avocados is the only way to get enough omega-3 fatty acids, but açaí berries are also a great source. Eating lots of these heart-healthy fats can lower your risk of coronary heart disease and improve your cholesterol.

  4. Calcium: High in calcium, açaí berries will help keep your bones, heart, muscles, and nerves strong and healthy.

what is boba tea?

The word “boba” can refer to either a broad category of chunky drinks — including everything from iced tea with tapioca pearls to fresh juice loaded with fruity bits — or black tapioca pearls themselves. Boba tea, bubble tea, and pearl milk tea — in Taiwan, zhenzhu naicha (珍珠奶茶) — are essentially different names for the same thing; the monikers differ by location, but also personal preference. (In the U.S., the East Coast favors bubble tea, while the West prefers boba.) Whatever you call it, in its most basic form, the drink consists of black tea, milk, ice, and chewy tapioca pearls, all shaken together like a martini and served with that famously fat straw to accommodate the marbles of tapioca that cluster at the bottom of the cup.

is boba tea healthy?

At YEIAÇAÍ we make everything with real ingredients. Internationally, you can find a lot of Boba Shops making their products with fructose, dextrose, and refined sugar syrups and flavorings. We, instead, seek out ingredients and formulates natural ways to sweeten our precious boba and blends using things like honey, plant based sweetening, and naturally sweet fruits (no stevia either)!

Our Boba recipes are made with REAL fruits, high quality teas, and the highest grade vegan-friendly syrups and powder blends. The tapioca pearls are imported directly from the most trusted Taiwanese sources and sweetened with high quality brown sugar and honey.

Is it healthy? When comparing it to AÇAÍ then this would be the less healthier option, however it is not “unhealthy”. These beverages taste incredible and are far better than consuming slushies, sodas, milkshakes or any typical ‘dessert’ beverage.

Health Tip: For a lower calorie option, opt for selecting aloe vera instead of tapioca pearls or coconut jellies.

How many calories are there in a 16oz boba drink?

The typical boba drink contains between 100-250 calories worth of boba. Everything else is basically fruit based or 0 calorie tea.

Is boba tea vegan-friendly?

All of our recipes in YEIAÇAÍ use only plant based milks such as almond milk, cashew milk, and soy milk. Therefore, yes, these are ALL Vegan-Friendly drinks! Enjoy our dear ‘xartofagoi’ friends!
